It being winter here, the Norton has been moved from the garage to my walk-in basement . Lighting down there has been limited to a 90 watt spot light in the ceiling. My bro gave me a pair of 4 ft LED shop lights, and OMG they are bright. Before and after pics below don't do them justice (my camera is too smart).

Anticipated winter work is new fork bushings, rear wheel bearings and a CnW head steady. Now I can do that before Spring for a change. Let there be light!

In my old one car garage I had one 100w bulb hanging from the rafter that needed me to drag an extension cord from the house to power the bulb and a radio.
Now in my new workshop (5 years old now) I have 9 fluorescent fixture with three bulbs each to light a 16 X 32 ft. area with 200 amp service.
LET THERE BE LIGHT INDEED! Its as bright as a hospital operating room.

LED's are great light source.
I have 4 high bay LED fixtures in my garage...along with an 8X10 piece of white scrap carpet that I center park my bike on.

The LED bulbs even make a lot of light , put 5 LEDs in place of normal 100w bulbs and I can actually see in my little shed , especially when I got my good reading glasses on .... someone said they draw less power/$ as well ....

I've switched over a lot of the a19 house lights and some of the smaller floods throughout the house. LEDs have finally come into a reasonable price range, and if they last as long as they say, it's a no brainer. If you get the daylight color they're brighter too. Even the 100W soft white (19W) are brighter than the incandescent, and the color is not bad, much better than the old green fluorescent. I got all mine off ebay and they work with my old x10 or Leviton DHC dimmers to some degree. I certainly haven't noticed any diff in the electric bill, but the wife runs the clothes dryer too much for the lights to make a diff. They also don't heat up the house like the old ones did, my A/C couldn't keep up with the heat if my wife turned on all the lights.

We are slowly replacing the many 50w halogen and Edison type recessed cans in our 20+ yo house to LED. The light is so much cleaner and more even.

I think now the LED screw ins will actually be cheaper replacemnt wise in the long run. The 60W Philip's or knock off bulbs only seemed to last a few months, and sometimes failed instantly.

My garage work area is still lit by two 150w halogen work lamps hung from the garage door ceiling rails. Gets hot in the summer.

I bought a 4' LED shop light and it is nice and bright but there is a yellow striping or banding effect that takes some getting used to.

Harbor Freight has a good 5000 lumen 4 ft LED that goes on sale periodically for $19.99. I have replaced all my 4 ft flourescents with them and they are great. They come with a pull chain switch and 120 cord and plug.

That's what mine are. $19.99 on sale at BJ's (a wholesale club). They have a pull chain and you can daisy chain them with the outlet that's on one end. I have them plugged into an adapter that screws into a regular light socket.

Yes, I highly recommend the 4 foot LED shop lights that are sold at Harbor freight for less than $20

A single 60 watt 4’ led makes more and better light than two 4 foot 40 watt x 2 fluorescents
