I'm 59 bought the 850 Roadster in 1974 cost me two years of my life (my extension bonus in the Navy). There were a lot of Commandos in the New London, CT area than. We probably had 6 bikes owned by the crew of my boat. I can't imagine really wanting anything else but I learned to ride on a 175 Kawasaki all over the power lines of Connecticutt. I think my daughter will be the one to ride when I'm too old or no longer around.

45 Years Old/Young. I have had other bikes, but the Commando is the one that I've had the longest.

I am 52. Now on my third Commando.
1st - 1971 Fastback owned from 1980 - 1983
2nd - 1970 Roadster owned from 1994 - 2003
3rd - 1974 850 Mk1 Interstate 2004 - currrent - presently being restored as not run since 1982.

12 year old son is interested - if he does then he stands to get the Commando, two T160's and a Cub - maybe.......................

I'm 61. I first rode a Norton in 1966, a 1963 ES2. I've been a fan ever since. Rebuilding the 1973 850 I bought in parts in 2001 has been a great hobby. Riding it is a real thrill. If I only had the time and money to restore the ES2! I wonder too how long the interest will remain. There are so many great bikes out there with all the restorations going on I hope they survive. This web site will no doubt be a major factor in the survival on the Commando with the great body of knowledge and genuinely helpful members.

45, got mine back in '88. Others have come and gone but the Commando is here for the long haul.
I don't somehow think we'll be the last Commando owners.
Name a another bike that isn't classed as modern which has pretty much full factory spares backup? We're sitting pretty.

39 years old and I have 3 commandos. Purchased my first one years ago. First year regularly riding one. Thanks to this site.

"Triumph Bonneville"

There will be spares for those till after our grandkids have passed on...

Most of the time when Commandos were classed as modern (if that's not a contradiction in terms) there was sweet FA in terms of factory spares back up. Things are much better now.

54, I think we are just caretakers for the next generation, and they for the next.

So it was you 79x100 that I've got to thank for all the hard work!

52 now, been riding longer than I've been driving. Could get your 'L' plates here at 17 and 6 months. Don't think I've not had a bike at any time since. Not had a lot of bikes, but have kept each one a long time. e.g. the Pantah since '82, the Commando bought sometime around '95.

I am 59 .
for the Belgians here who can remember :
My first bike had blue licence plates .

We don't want to make it too easy for the next generation, once they've learned to pull their pants up to cover their undies they might learn to appreciate the finer things in motorcycling.
