Wiring Harness...... smokem

Ok, a week later now........

New harness came in. Looks good.
I'm de-wiring the smoked harness and trying to ID the differences between the changed and cobbled Previuos Owner headlight/handlebar switch mini harness.
And whats called out on the electrical drawing from the shop manual.
Just to review.... this machine has:
No directionals.
Assimulator circuitry was not there, along with no warning/indicator lights in headlight.
No right hand switch gear.
A left hand headlight switch group is from a different bike.
Switches are: horn button, pilot light, off, low beam, high beam.
Has Instrument lighting for tach and speedo.
All this was working before frying the harnees after dropping a washer and it wedged across the horn to frame.
I'm assuming this is the cause as mentioned in the previous post.
(classic black soot/arching indicated on washer with melted wires)

I'm feeling a little worried about trying to fire the engine up.
I feel I should leave the headlight and HL switch and taillight circuitry out of the mix to start with.
Taped off of course.
I do have the harness in place mostly and the Stator, Cap, Rectifier, Zener, and Master Switch connected.
The wire colors elude me for where the one (white) wire off the coils and Boyer should connect to the harness?
On the drawing it shows the coils connected to Blue/White, but that seems to go to the right hand handlebar switch, which I don't have.
Is that a kill switch in the drawing?
I'm going bald by pulling my hair out about this yuck yuck.
Any clues for the wiring newbies out here?

There would normally be a kill switch, but if it's not there, (assuming positive ground) connect the Boyer box white wire to any harness white wire.
Note that there should not be any white harness wire connected to the coils, only a black from the Boyer, and red to ground, with a jumper wire between the two coils.

Hey L.A.B.
Top o the Morning to ya. Its 2:30am here haha. hawaii 12 hrs 1/2 way round the world.

My mis-info.
Its a white wire coming off the Black Transitor Box like in that linked drawing.
I have this Boyer drawing.
So I will connect it to any white wire in the harness?
Thanks
J Dog.

Yes, all the white wires should be common, and therefore connect back to terminal 2 of the ignition switch (check the white circuit wiring in your manual's diagram).

When we left our hero he was in the middle of installing a new wiring harness for the one he smoked after dropping a washer .
I was really apprehensive about the wiring because of all the changes the PO had incorporated into the bike.
Or should I say deletions.
That had me ending up having to rework the Headlight and Left handlebar Switch and Master Key Switch mini harnesses.
After hours of puzziling over the aspect of Positive Grounding and figuring that ITS the WHITE wire that is the switched power from the Master Switch all the little piece fell into place. Having crimped new connections, soldered bad connections, heat shrinking exposed unused ends, electrical taping different bundles of unused terminals, making jumper bullet connections, cleaning old Lucas bullet 4 ways, and a buncha other stuff you don't want to know about.
I mounted the Tank, and connected the gas lines, popped the seat on, kick her thru a couple of times for good measure, I turned the key and gave her one swift kick. BBBRRRAAAaaap! she fired up 1st kick and nothing ever sounded so sweet.
So now its on finish up with the rear brake switch and tail light/license plate mounting and then to finalize the wire ties and secure the bundles.

I have notice a few other w. harness threads pop up since I started this one.
Here's hoping for good luck with those fellas.
I'm pretty stoked and could be riding her in a day or 2.

I got the harness from C.S. and put it on the bike. I liked the way it went on so I think you will too. I am sorting out some of the wiring to hook up correctly. I must have hooked a couple of things up incorrectly because of the fried wires but someone else is having the same problems (see 74 not charging so I am goimg to follow that post after work tonight. good luck
