Your roads are as bad as ours
I'm guessing you don't pay a " road fund license " ? Like we do over here
How are your roads paid for ?
Fuel tax, excise tax on vehicles, property tax (real estate)....
On the I-95 ongoing failure, they are paved with mandated "recycled" material in the mix, and also asphalt content & application temp that conspires to make the paving temporary.
That little road is in the "Salisbury Plains" area of Massachusetts, the roads were there since 1634, so, a full excavation and PROPER roadbed will never happen. Just re-pave it after the frost goes out in the spring, and it all breaks up.
The winter frost goes 3-4 feet deep, when it thaws, the ground turns to soup underneath, cracks all to hell.
500 miles South, the (secondary) roads are not frost damaged.
As a footnote, that second image, had white lines hand painted, across the road, labelled "start" and "finish" from 1970 onward. Arrow straight, relatively smooth at the time, and an additional 1/4 mile, uphill shutdown.
Nickname of the road was "Roblee Raceway" as a tribute to the nearby landowner.
The houses in the picture hadn't been built yet.
