Is there a technical resource indicating what size and thread type each nut and bolt is on the commando anywhere? The official parts list doesn't indicate this information.

If you look up the part number on Andover Nortons website they usually tell you the nut and bolt sizes.

You could try this:

The fasteners database is designed to provide the technical details of every fastener of all British motorcycles. It started, with permissions, when stainlessbits.com went dormant. Since then (early 2016) it has been tied to over 40 parts manuals and has been community updated. I have added/corrected 308 entries and five others have added/corrected 50 more.

If you instead use the parts database: https://www.gregmarsh.com/MC/PartsList.aspx you'll see each place where a part is used and if that part is a fastener, then the parts book info plus the fastener database info is included. The notes fields of the parts database can be edited by the community.

I'm sure you can imagine that it cost a lot to have 41 parts manuals typed into a database - all I ask is that it be used - no ads, no requests for donations, nothing - just use them!

Not to hijack this thread, but is there a way to find, by part number, where a part belongs on a Commando? I was given a small bag of AN fasteners but cannot "reverse engineer" where they should be used on the bike.

Somewhat. Go to my parts database. Enter the part number (I enter the last 4 of part numbers). Click picture. It will give the parts diagram - find the item number on the picture and you know.
