Recently bought an imported motorcycle it had sat for a bit and one tickler didn't flood and one Petcock was stiff . When I drained the fuel it was tinged blue and had a strange odor, the vendor did say it still had American fuel in, I thought he was kidding. I wonder if it's the ethanol content or maybe it was off but it did not smell like UK fuel. Is that how it is or just my imagination?

Only blue gas I know of here is Avgas 100 octane low lead. It has a very distinct smell when it burns, not so sure about when it's in the tank.

There used to be a 130 octane leaded gas available at boat ramps and in the vicinity of watersports. It's name? Turbo Blue. Looked like thinned blue snowcone syrup. The SS clone (in it's former guise) loved it.

Web search indicates you can still get Turbo Blue from a vendor in Northern Illinois. About 17 years ago I was picking it up at a local gas station here.

I find it odd that any carrier would ship a motorcycle with fuel in the tank.

See for yourself regular petrol (gas) on the left , looks and smells like petrol. Blue smelly stuff in t'other .

Jg

Could it be marine fuel , as in like red diesel for agriculture .

I'm also guessing 100LL Avgas. I don't know why avgas should smell so different from "regular" automotive fuel, but I sure do love the smell of the stuff! 'Takes me back to college days when working at the airport.

I was a ramp rat at an airport here in Ontario Canada in my younger days. We use to run 80/87 red and 100/130 green before everyone got on to the no lead. It became blue 100LL after that.
It was cool when we had the WW2 airshows back in the 80's on Fathers day weekend with lots of planes.
And avgas does have a unique smell. Coleman fuel does also have a tint in the camp fuel. It lasts forever but not recommended to use on engines. +expensive
Cheers,
Thomas

A WW II airplane burning 100 octane is about as good as it gets.
There use to be 145 octane avgas. purple fuel for the reno pylon racers...wild world of sports. long long ago 8)
but 100LL is what you get at the airport pump.

Sure looks like avgas to me. Smells and burns different than ethanol or even non-ethanol fuel. Sort of a sweet smell. Evaporates fast too and doesn't leave crap in the carbs. 110LL burns fine in a Norton, it doesn't go bad either. Use it.
