What's happening at Norton? Sale to TVS, massive investment, new bikes...

The hype for EICMA builds. Norton @ 14 - briefly. Guess we’ll see in a few days!

Would love to be there - lots of pics’n’info from those that are please.

Fingers crossed that the bikes are well received.

Random post on the NOC site - another take on what’s on the way!

As an aside, doubt Norton will be bringing out a cafe V4... more likely a naked and or a streetfighter, ADV... more comfy riding position for the more er.. mature riders who could afford one.

OK everyone.
Get to bed early tonight.
Tomorrow will be very trying for many on this forum so you need to get plenty of rest.
Gotta be ready to strongly hate, love, or be totally indifferent towards the new Norton models.:p

We may need to hold off (just a little) on much other than the aesthetics, price point and inital spec until we’ve had some road tests conducted.

Either way, it’s gonna be interesting!!!

The V4 is better than I expected. So glad its road focused, no silly aero. Like to see it in other colours.. black for me. Surprised the twin is 585cc, and not 450. Means it'll be allowed to be more powerful than other A2 compliant bikes. The ADV look isnt for me, but that's where the demand is. Look forward to see other future models with these engines.

Styling is gonna be divisive! The ManxR I’m likin’ 👍 the more I look at it; really looks like a bike you need to see in the flesh though (to feel the quality and appreciate the aesthetics). Think they’ve been pretty forward leaning with how modern they’ve styled it - brave? A move away from overt angles, aero and aggression of the competition to sorta semi-Tron.

206 HP and great torque figures, further down the rev range than the competition, should make for an awesome road bike.

Not so sure about the Manx (naked) styling! Especially that front end! Again, need to see it in the flesh.

Have’nt seen the twins; anybody got any decent images yet?

Few pics on MCN, the Atlas looks a really bulky bike, I kind of hand something more T7 svette like in my mind when I thought of a Norton, if we are comparing it to other twin advs the logical ones seem the, Tracer 700 from a road Biased bike, vstrom 650xt, Honda Nx500 the new Kawasaki KLX 500 and to top it off the new Lithe BMW F450GS which was rumored to be on the light side of the A2 weight limit right at 175kg at wet weight stage

As well as having had the 1927 Norton, 750 Commando, an 650ss all sold now I’ve had a slew of adventure bikes,

BMW 1150 GSA, 1200GSA Water cooled, F800GS, 1200GS, Yamaha Tenere 700, Suzukis Vstrom 650 and 1000xt, Hondas NX500 and CRF 300 Rally, Ktm’s 390s an Enfields 411 Himalayan and currently the 450 Himalayan.

So I’ve had and used those all in both in trail/ green laning an very long distance riding for the uk at least in a 585 mile day on the nx500 600+ mile day on the vstrom 650xt and 1200gsa an the 385 mile day a few weeks back on the 450

I’ll be at motorcycle live in a few weeks so will be interesting to see what it’s like :)

For me weight and also weight distribution is super important in this class of bike preferring bikes that hold the weight low for green lane situations, as well as fuel economy.

Hopefully we get wet weights and prices.
