What size float needle and seat for 34mm Mikuni?

I am replacing some parts in my 34 mm Mikuni, 750 Commando. The parts guy seemed surprised that the float needle and seat were so large, 3.3. Raising doubts in my mind. Is this the correct size? Thanks.

And in twin 34mms you will have the same size in each!

I think many Mikuni people don’t understand what Brit bike owners are using them for, they used to any given size going on much smaller Japanese bikes I reckon.

A properly working needle and seat does not have any effect on mixture, regardless of size. The size should be that which delivers the maximum amount of fuel that the engine requires at full load, with some reserve. A grossly oversized needle and seat, if working properly, is of no consequence.

True...it's only a small one that will give you problems!!

To answer your question, a 3.3 is what Mikuni ships with, a 3.0 will work. The needle and seat come as a set.

If the seat has been drilled, you will need to check the float level.
