Help with fenders on my atlas. Atlas fenders are getting hard to find and there seems to be plenty of Cammando fenders available. But will they fit?
What fenders will fit my 1965 Atlas. Will Cammando fenders work?

Just measured my 650ss - 2 rears (valanced is 150mm wide, non-valanced is 140mm wide.
- front is 120mm between fork mounts
Commando - rear is 150mm wide
- front is 120mm between fork mounts
Summary is I think you could make it work, but the mounting holes will be different.
You'll have to drill some (eg: rear side mount behind shocks - commando doesn't have these) and have to plug some unused ones.

The Earlier Commando CHROME steel would be best . Later Stainless are the wider ones .
P R & Fastback rear guards differant .
Might ave youres . Fit wotcher got tho , Anyway !
Bit of a minefield / Threw the 70 Front on old 50s roadolders no trouble .
The Disc Brake forks and guard bracket are wider .
mine on SHORT roadholders , the guard ( just ) dinged on the steering damper
lower fitting .Under the lower triple clamp .
Think the later wider guards maybe neccesary for a 4.10 - 19 front tyre though ? .

I have a pair and then some Atlas mudguards that are available. I also have a 63 only Atlas front for the narrower 7" Roadholders. If you are interested email me for pictures: 63atlas@comcast.net
Two types of fender, one for 7 inch pre Atlas/ Commando, the later seven and three eights inch centres is the one you want.The Earlier Commando CHROME steel would be best . Later Stainless are the wider ones .

Even I can't tell the difference just by looking at them!

Would you believe the front valenced guard for a Navigator or Electra are the same pressing as the bigger twins !, just drilled a bit higher on the bottom stays ,Also they came in two widths for the narrow/wide roadholders. We have one on a late Atlas (painted in the optional black). Just some more trivial but true facts that you won't find in any literature.
Hi Bob, that's useful information to me. To enable the distinction, would you please take a reading of the horizontal dimension (width) between (external to) the rolled-up edges ahead of the muduard bridge? The later version for 7-3/8" forks is my prime interest. Can you please post a picture of a genuine mudguard bridge for this mudguard as well?

Hi Knut, Bike is not with me ,so getting the info will take time. The bridge is heavily pressed the same shape as the indents in the guard , don't think any of the current replacements are suitable ,has to be an orriginal but you can use one from some earlier bikes ,the 88/99dL would be a painted version same as the chrome valenced one on an early 650 SS narrow forks

The width of the 7 3/8 mudguard before the bridge is 5 3/8 inches.
I can't get a photo of the bridge but one is shown in these current ebay listings
The width of the bridge where it mounts to the forks is a fraction under 5 inches.
I went through the pain of sourcing mudguards a fair few years ago and ended up sourcing from US at great expense. The pair in the first ebay listing are a rare find in the U.K.
