What are these 920F markings stamped into a 73 850?

Your Commando was probably supplied by Harry's Motors, Denver.

It seems they used to stamp the bikes they sold with 'HM' (sometimes also with the H on its side) and their own serial number (three digits and a letter).
 
seems likely, as it did come from Colorado at one time. thanks
 
But why? were they worried that someone would swap crankcases while under guarantee, or what?
I would have been most unhappy if a dealer had vandalised my new Norton in this way...
 
Possibly anti theft, any one in the local area could see the dealer who sold the bike and check with them.
