What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

I rode a Road King when I did the R66 trip. Also rode a Street Glide and a Softail in the US previously. Road King was fabulous... but WAY too big and WAAAY too heavy for me over here.

I came very close to buying a Sport Glide. But went for this 2016 Dyna Low Rider S, this is the one they put the 110ci (1800cc) Sreamin’ Eagle engine in.

Lovin’ it !
I am really diggin the Fatbob :) . Supposed to handle pretty good for a Harley too !

Yes, the Fat Bob is the best handling big twin for sure.

If you can live with the looks, it’s a good bike.

i thought you were more of a touring guy though Tony, check out the Sport glide, near full ‘touring bike’ ability but a relative lightweight.

When I'm done with it , it'll tour just fine.

The answers are : 142 , 48 , and Yes , I need to change it to a Corbin Gunfighter and lady .

I Just got back from my last short trip yesterday and managed a 50.5 MPG average . It was 125 miles each way only 10% interstate driving. Granted , I was taking it easy , no heavy throttle and never over 75mph .

Good question .... my sportster has character as does the 961. The Duc 1200 monster is a hoot unless you want to stop. Terrible rear brakes. As I age I'm increasingly enjoying the BMW R9T. Again unique character with the crack parallel to the wheels in

I was at my local watering hole today and there were 3 new Royal Enfields which looked pretty good, they departed within minutes of each other, firing up without hesitation or missing a beat and thundered off with a classic twin zorst note, deep and loud. I was mightily impressed.

Picked up my choice of the best non norton today. A 2020 Ducati Diavel 1260S
Scott, great minds think alike, I pick this up next week. Not sure about it qualifying as a non-Norton but it's going to be a blast.... a Gen1 1198 :)

Hello MX , Do you give up a bike to get this ? I gave up my 2004 900 Thruxton to get the Kaw 900. Nice looking bike by the way.

Tony, I'm not exactly part exchanging, just buying outright as it is a used bike at the right price, but I have made a mental note that it will replace the Indian FTR1200. Nothing wrong with the FTR, I just think the Diavel will be a better bike for me. There is no room in the garage (or my time) for 4, ideally I would like to get down to 2 bikes, but which 2 is still up for debate.

Hinckley Triumph, a carburettored 865 Scrambler I attached a GP Manx chair to last year. As the weather's changed I mothballed the 961 this week so I took the dust cover off the Trummy, checked her over and slowly brought her back to life. After a few spins then fuel on, choke on and lit up 1st time, good spin out today and after the initial struggle, back in the swing of it and an enjoyable ride out. Different for sure, upper body workout a bonus.

Just came from the Harley Dealer. Kicking a few tires. What makes a Fat Bob handle better than any other of the Soft tails? Arent they pretty much the same? If I go that route, I want understated. No fairing and gadgets. No saddlebags. A seat comfortable for the pillion, a back rest with a bag platform. Quick disconnct windshield. Saw a lovely soft tail deluxe. Just not into the white walls.

Another choice, as to be not as cool yet more practical, befitting the sporty riding style and DOES have all the goodies.....BMW R1200RT. Don't have to back out 800 lbs. just for a beach run.

The Fat Bob has a steeper fork angle than the rest. Also dual discs up front. Its one of the lighter big twins and comes with the 114ci engine. So it actually has quite a lot going for it. Just a shame it’s so ugly!

If you like understated cool, you could do worse than look for a 2016/17 Dyna Low Rider S, very minimalistic and has the 110ci Screamin’ Eagle engine, I think they‘re awesome, but then I’m hardly neutral on the subject!

The new Softail Low Rider S also has the 114 motor. But ain’t as cool as the Dyna

If you want the switch-ability between minimalist and touring practicality you might like the Sport Glide. That’s what I was gonna buy until I was seduced by the Dyna LRS !

Have they changed the Fat Bob? Mine was a 2011 and it wasn't a Softail variant it was from the Dyna line with dual rear shocks.

Saw a gloss black Sport Glide with red painted logo on a ride the other day. 19K US $ out the door which I felt quite reasonable. The Soft tail Deluxe at the dealership is 18.5K. Again, less than I thought. The Dyna was comfortabe for me. I love the heritage, the cool swagger, the sound of the Harleys, yet what draws me back is the reclining chair riding style. Every retiree has one now...big ole Glory flying out back. Not a lack of patriotism on my part. Its just that they are all wannabe old school bikers now. And then there is the sterile T120.....oy....decisions.
