Webby's Triton build

Cheers for the comments Webby, my Triton was a bit of an experiment a long time ago when I was still an apprentice, so for an 18 year old at the time, I can forgive myself a few (ok.. loads of!) basic errors in the build, and it was intended to be a workhorse and everyday bike, which it did quite well. Yours will be the stunner that mine wasn't.
And I drive through J7 M56 everyday, this is the junction for Altringham, getting a bit bogged off with the Land Rovers, Audis, Porches and Bentleys pushing in everymorning :evil:
 
I'm amazed by the cars (mostly driven by wa*nkers!) that I see in that part of the world, but not a single old bike. I guess most of us are not stuck up our own ar*es enough to frequent places like that :D
I forgot to ask, what was the engine you fitted? Looks like an early T140 (750cc). BTW your engine number looks a little dodgy :mrgreen:

The engine is/was a T120/TR6 hybrid with the eight stud head and a single carb. Oh and the engine number does look a bit dodgy doesn't it! never noticed it before you pointed it out, but it's what was on the log book so it's all legal and tickety boo :D .
And to make the bike more authentic I even got the vehicle inspector down to ratify it as a proper Triton 8) so from birth, up to the present day, it is registered and taxed as a Triton and not a Norton or Triumph as most 'Tritons' are.

Do you still have it, or know where it is today ?

Sold it years ago to a friend who then sold it on to another friend who I bump into regularly, so it is still local. He has changed it dramatically, put a trident engine in it and modern forks, twin discs etc, looks good and I'm glad he developed it further, its something I couldn't do at the time of sale, so my baby still lives :D .

All I have is some old tax discs and photos and I think I have the receipt for the engine somewhere. And I just remembered that I made the rear number plate holder out of a piece of plate titanium :shock: , little bit of bling on the old girl and keeps the weight down, I wonder if he knows about that? hope he didn't bin it thinking it was ally or some other cheap stuff!!!
 
Just a quick update.
Real work has been getting in the way lately, but I've had time to make one rear/center engine mount plate and fab up another plate for the head steady.
Pics to follow once everything is finished. I've also ordered a gas (fuel) tank today, I decided upon a short circuit sprint style alloy tank. Have a look here http://www.tabclassics.com/product.php?id=29
380 UK pounds plus a very reasonable 55 pounds shipping to Belgium, the price also includes a second fuel tap (petcock) boss added free of charge. and a lead time of 5 to 6 weeks.

Finished off the center rear mounting plates today. They are quite a bit smaller than my prototypes.

Also figured out the position of the rear sets, nothing to radical I wanted the bike to be sort of comfortable.

Looks like the gear change lever flipped over will work well for a brake lever, it clears the primary case and the pivot point is about the same length as a Bonneville. It might get modified to look like a brake pedal.

The lead time was pretty good, about 5 weeks, I'm more than happy with the quality, price and service.
 
Looks like the bike building gods have conspired against me again.
Having received most of my parts for the front end from Unity Equipe I figured I'd do a dry build and see what it looks like.
This is when I noticed my lower yoke (bought second hand) was bent :(

I decided to try straightening the yoke, I was surprised how soft the material appeared to be, that is until the final tweek to get everything perfect when I heard a small "click"

Maybe I should have tried heating beforehand, although I'm not sure it would much effect on a casting like this. Never mind back to plan B :)

Thanks for the post, unfortunately you've got my bike mixed up with Triton750s.
My bike is still unfinished, mainly due to having little time as I'm now self employed and rarely at home.
Hopefully one day I'll finish it !

Unfortunately the bikes have been put on hold.
Due to setting up my own business and some health issues I've not had the time.
I've still got all the bits boxed up in the garage but sadly I doubt if I will ever finish this build.
 
Sorry to hear that the Triton is not done, and your personal issues; try to bump the priority level UP on the bikes, it's necessary to your sanity!

You can do this...
 
Sorry to hear this, but oddly enough I've just barely started mine after close to 20 years of it all sitting in boxes after I started my own business. :)

If you ever decide to sell some parts let me know please.
