It registered just about 2 deg C here today, almost summer!

I did though go to the garage and sit on a couple of Nortons for a while, sad isn't it

But Gino, doesn't the single malt make it all somewhat bearable?

hard to sell global warming in a major snowstorm isn't it

And thats when it all started to come apart at the seams, Copenhagen was a Whiteout. Can't wait to see the final end to this con jobbie, if only to see what replaces it.

Come back Iron Curtain/Nuclear armageddon all is forgiven, a more believeable scare story  .

Winter has arrived with a vengance here in Scotland, really fed up I cant get the bike out just now. I may consider moving somewhere warmer where I can ride all year round! This pic taken today next to the pile of snow the plough left on Saturday!
Weather!!!

Why can't you ride all year :-)

Hi all

Here in sunny Queensland, Australia we can ride all year round, have never seen snow in my whole 52 years here, but at the moment we have had so much rain but it hasn't stopped me from riding the Norton, our winters, the coldest it gets here in Brisbane is about 6c, thats when the Norton runs the best...

Ashley

I know you are pretty lucky down under you get to watch the cricket when we are shivering in -10 c

so, glaciers are disappearing because of Global Cooling?

http://green.yahoo.com/blog/guest_blogg ... ciers.html

We're getting more precipitation (as in snow) because as these babys melt, much of their moisture ends up in the atmosphere, falling back to earth. Its a slow process, but it will get worse.

Tried not to do this but could not stop myself the phrase 'Global Warming' is a tad misleading. In effect what is happening in crude terms is there is more 'energy' which leads to changes in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events as well as an increase in temperature globally . IMHO (Global Warming and Climate Change have been used to refer to the changes caused by the greenhouse effect unfortunately as far as the general public are concerned Global Warming dominates so most people think its just that every thing gets hotter :-) )

Duh, its a bankster occult club project that goes back a lot of decades to find a buggy man to tax and control the Globe. In 70's its was a global freeze, then they realized carbon control touched everything so C02 floated to the top. Then last decade the graph didn't show the predicted heating so they back peddled to call it Global Change to stay ahead of predictions. There is too much noise in the data and unknown cycles to account for to make any firm predictions, except the banksters political consensus is set, so bickering about which way temps trend going is irrelevant. There is some good reason to believe we are rather long past due for next ice age cycle and support only man made gases have prevented it so far. At some point I expect our hobby horsed declared illegal. Growing up in Fla we had organe groves almost to top of the state. 50 years prior they were at Georgia border but last 30 years they had to move groves way south and now they are in jepardy to be froze out of production. Ain't just extra energy its the differences in energy collections and flows that shape the climate the most.
What should be the focus is pollution control, not C02 but that'd cut too deep into the main pollutors investments, so not holding breath for any relief that matter tax or profits of pollution.

Ride em while ya can, i just got winter gloves that have pockets for heat packs on back and palm side. Alas it can get so hot its like a hair drier not a cooling wind. Old Spragthropes had A/c for the pilot cockpit but not pillion cabin, ugh.

I was on the Columbia ice fields last September and they showed the glaciers were receding from the time they were discovered in the 1850s, not too many people then and not too many cars. Then look at Greenland, why is it called "green" when it is covered in ice? The earth is constantly heating up and cooling down and we may not have anything to do with it, so we as motorheads should not worry about it and ride our old bikes when it is possible to do so, if the season gets longer, good, if it gets shorter, too bad for riding but more time for wrenching.

Here in BC, Canada our forests have been devastated by the spruce bud beetle. We need 3 weeks of -40' to kill the little beggars. When I first moved up north we had that often but we haven't had it for over 10 years now. Now they're moving east across the country in search of more trees to kill off.

At least what we Norton owners are doing is kind of recycling. We use mostly already existing machinery and patch them up with a lot of mostly used parts. We can all do our bit by carefully recycling our waste oil etc. and only purchasing quality well made items (tools) that we can justify really needing.

However if any of you have more than 5 bikes in your stable well that is excess and you can do your bit by dropping the overage off to any of us with less. I myself have only 3 so I could harbor 2 more in my stable and I will do my bit by offering to help with your dilemmas by taking in those extra bikes. It's kind of the way countries buy carbon credits. PM me with your model and year info and I'll get you your shipping costs. (Norton F1's qualify also)

It does but it really is a bad habit

Watched a documentary last night on the Ice age, the last one (that covered most of America , Europe and Asia) was around 20,000 years ago, seemingly thats part of the reason we have such nice scenery here in Scotland, the ice was 1km thick!, the next one is due in 40,000 years or thereabouts.
Nothing to do with global warming or humans but a fact of nature and astronomy. James Croll, a Scottish Janitor at a College in Glasgow (and from my home county of Perthshire) figured it out in the 1800's.

So I suppose we only have around 39,000 years left to enjoy our Nortons before it gets chilly, get out there then and wear the bloody things out before they are frozen in a time capsule for another million years.

Think about this, are we the luckiest generation ever? The internal combustion engine perfected (by Norton of course) plentiful petrol to fuel it and despite what anyone says enough cash to enjoy it. Do we think that in 70 years time guys (and girls) will be on the Classic Electro bike forum sharing tech tips about how to get another 30 minutes out of your 30 year electric bike battery, and how cool they look and sound compared to the latest 2080 models?

Forget the value guys and girls, ride it and enjoy it!

In response to my own smug observation about T-shirts and swimming here in Hong Kong, it has just gone down to below 10 degrees C and is pouring with rain. I hope my comeuppance makes everyone feel a bit better. The forecast is for me to be back to my annoying best some time next week.

There is something profoundly French about that attitude. Ya gotta love it.

Gino, I agree whole hearted that the baby bomber generation are luckest of all.

What generation had time to play after school and no great depression for a decades then straight into WWII draft and rationing fuel to tires to sugar and butter and not much pavement laid down. Smokikng was cool then not criminal. But parts supply and money sending and communications sucked big time back in goldern mc era.

Felt so good today with above freeZing temps would or rode to work with a big fairly as predicted sleet didn't show up, but would of got drizzled on way back.
As a youth in the 50's we could collect bottles for enough gas to play go carts and out board boats all week end no job needed. First gas I knew up cost .23 cents/gal. Bottles got a nickle each. No one worried about mileage over power either.
