As I was pulling the carbs off of the old gl 1000 yesterday having a miserable time of it I could not for the life of me recollect why after 22 years it had suddenly become so important that that monstrosity needs to be up and running causing me such misery.... I'm not going out back until I can remember.
I have, I bought a Stage and sold all my other amps, I have a lot more room now. A friend of mine who is valve through and through to the point of, if you cut him in half I am sure there would be a glow inside, when he comes round he will just sit and play through the Kemper, he says it is that good. Not convinced him to get one yet as he says there is just something about being onstage with his Marshal and 412 behind him, I get it but he says what and pardon a lot.
I like valves, grew up with them and I have built a few amps, but getting older does require some things to be just a bit more reliable. My friend sent one of his Marshals back to Marshal for a service (expensive, all the valves changed) and then didn't use it for a while, first time out, fizz bang. Sort of sums up valves these days.
