I'm getting ready to put new seals on my intake valves. The seals that Andover lists appear to be the standard viton seal with no choker springs. Kibblewhite's website shows 7 different types but again only one for the Norton, style 1.

I can't seem to find anything in style 4 with the same sizes as listed for the Commando. Its a stock 71 Commando built after they went to bronze guides according to serial number. Any suggestions?

I believe there is a GM application where aftermarket ones are available in style 4 that fit a Norton either directly or with a little work. You would need to do some measuring of the guide OD and room for height etc and do some digging.

I have these. They seem fine. But then I am an untutored idiot.

ditto, ditto and ditto

JS Motorsports stocks these banded versions, though I have no experience with them:

I've had KW non-spring type, reddish orange colour, installed for past 8k miles and all fine on my 850. Originals just crumbled apart when replacing after oil puffs out the back.

Ordered a set of the non spring ones today. Thanks all for the replies.

Beware - not all viton seals are the same. The best ones are banded top and bottom. Most important is the relaxed ID measurement. They should not fall off a caliper at .287" If they fall off at .290" they are junk. I learned the hard way after building the 260 V8 small block ford in my Willys. It burned oil with brand new spring and banded seals that were too loose so I had to do the job all over again.

valve seals....again

I have purchased identical looking seals (except for color) from different manufactures with either tight or loose IDs. Both were designed for 5/16 stems and fit Nortons. The loose seals smoked.
