valve guide size

hello all not sure if anyone can help me, I have a stage 2 maney head converted to accommodate 81mm bore, the valve guides wre showing excessive wear so I carefully drawed the inlet guides out and found the guide size to be 0.657 (16.69mm),
I was very suprised by this as i have a standard kibblewhite guide which measured 0.625 (15.88mm), can anyone explain why such a large size difference, is this possibly to do with the stage 2 mod !

Steve uses old heads as a core, which may have sloppy holes etc. and the stage 2 has re angled valves as well I believe. That’s two reasons he may up the OD.

Next time get the guides lined using K liners, the guide stays in the head so less risk of scrapping a head by inserting a wrongly sized guide or a guide into a cold head.

I was very careful in removing them threaded top of guide, bored out majority of valve hole and heated head then drawn out using mandrell
