V4CR LAUNCH

Not my cupper tea, for some reason it just doesn't look right??
Maybe the young ones might be interested but their parents would need to have deep pockets!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

IMHO they are deliberately hiding the engine. They are trying to ease us into accepting what EVs look like, so that when they do come, they have some design lineage and brand familiarity and aren’t such an outright abomination and shock to our systems !

Not loving the slightly lardy (CR?) looks, exhaust and general stance of the Horex - certainly not in comparison to the sleek purposeful lines of the Norton; hopefully Norton still intend to sell the original angled pipe for the V4CR. 40K GBP (depending on model) plays 42K GBP

200 units - my guess is they’ll sell em’. And the Norton’s, well, a Norton! Horex who!

The Horex VR6 may look larded due to the massive engine. Maybe they could have made it less tall - the crankshaft sits a bit high in the frame. I agree the Norton's appearance is neater, but then it doesn't sport a 6 cylinder engine!
The VR6 radiates "here is a muscle machine" while the CR's appearance is rather subdued, "don't look too hard, I don't want much attention".

The CR's separated number plate looks very odd to me. A number plate and lighting which jumps up and down?? Horex disposed of a similar design some time ago.
As for exhaust - yes, the VR6 has a potential for visual improvement, and this should be easy to rectify.
In the chassis and cycle part departments, the VR6 looks more purposeful than the CR to me.

Photos attached from the Bike Shed show on Saturday.

Thought the V4CR were much better than I thought they would be, but not particularly interested in owning one.

Said to the man in charge that the colours, although traditional for Norton were a bit boring, and everyone
knows blue Nortons are fastest so suggested fireflake blue.

Told the Norton guy Fast Eddie has the cash, but would not buy one as not blue, and I was right.....

Fast Eddie : "The fact that it’s forty six grand isn’t actually a problem for me… cos I just don’t freakin’ like it… at all !"

I’m sorry, but the Horex looks like the illegitimate (3-way) love child of a lardy V-Max, mated with an MT10 that had a temporary liaison with a Ducati Monster!

I don’t think it really knows what it is!

Agreed though - the new Norton can does not look right. Bring back the up-swept angled original exhaust.

I think you misunderstand sir…

IF I liked it, THEN the £46k would be the problem.

But I don’t, so it ain’t !

I think those covers are for heat management . To keep the direct hot air off your calves . The price is too high . Has anyone seen it with those covers off ? It could be hideous behind there !

Similar sentiments here too.
You normally see only right side views of the bike.
Don't forget the crane boom arm license plate holder on the left side, a modern abomination.
They should ditch the boom arm, and should extend the seat subframe and put the plate underneath the seat.
This is a "cafe" model, not a MotoGP replica-racer, right???

Oh Norton, just go full hooligan already, you know you wanna do it!
Scrap the superbike, and build 185HP hooligans instead.
Give the customers a wide range of outrageous colors to choose from, like the Commando back in the 70's.
Plan on selling 1000s of units, at lower prices.
Take the profits and design, or re-design a competitive 200+HP modern superbike.

Once again. Another fail.
I’d rather have the Nomad bikes.

I’m my opinion, the CR is a $25-28k USD bike.
I don’t care how little are produced or how exclusive it will be. 185 hp, parts made in China Woopie.

Nothing special about any of that. TVS thinks by charging £46k that, that alone makes it seem special. Here we go again with the boutique bike.

Other 185 Hp bikes can be had and I guarantee none will be the norm in my area and I know that 185 Hp is out of my capabilities. Not to mention, other brands will supply spare parts when needed.

Hey Guys , just wondering if the economies of scale are such that they can't make or sell it for less ? What would they have to do to knock that price down ? Start with an aluminum gas tank not CF and go to Showa and Nissin for brakes / suspension . Get cheaper mag wheels from whoever etc.. How much is that engine and frame costing them to make ??? Cut out all of the polishing and make it satin finish bare bones so to speak. Offer the upmarket version with all the expensive stuff for those willing to pay for it. Can they make it for $30K out the door. ?

It’s at that price point that is above the means of the average bike riding punter, but make no mistake, there is still money around in certain sectors/areas of the UK.

Some that buy may be less likely to ride it than you or I, but as a ‘my wallets bigger than yours‘ proposition it will likely sell. Whether it sits in a living room on SWR or goes into a collection.

Then there’s the british bike enthusiast that is a little more ‘well healed‘ that is likely to ride it and not talk about how much it cost.

Lastly would be your average guy who falls in love with the proposition - he’ll sell any other bikes he has and maybe his kidney to own one.

I really don’t think Norton expect these to fly out of the factory in great volumes.
The 'well healed' motorcyclists that can afford to buy it are not daft or stupid, they also know what else is out there and will spend their money wisely. Other than the odd cook, I don't see many takers for it.

‘Cook’ ??

The term unfortunately implies a value judgement.
A better term would be:

"The type of gentleman inclined to making very questionable decisions."
