I just purchased a single Mikuni for my '74 850 Commando and discovered that the carb has a choke lever instead of a connection for the choke lever on the handlebar. I would like to use the original setup. Is anyone aware of a kit or an adapter which would me allow me to do that? Or has anyone created a modification which will accomplish this? Thanks.....

Bill

I did Ms Peel's Miki enricher via cable to the cute Norton chrome choke lever but still had annoying similar resistance as dual Amal chokes to operate.

If I remember right, the choke lever will operate backwards from the way it is with the Amals. (Cable taut will be choke on.)

Although it is your preference and option, I find the lever on the carb much easier once accustomed and the cabling to the handlebars is not worth the hassle nor the expense. I have tried it and reverted. I may even still have it. It was on a VM36 but would fit others.

Yes, that's frozen rain accumulating on drive.

Most snowmobile dealers sell these kits quite reasonably. Helps if you are in Canada or the northern States I guess. I prefer how mine works compared to the lever and is infinitely adjustable not a set position as with the lever.

Who could resist a heavenly prospect like infinite adjustability.

However, and not to be argumentative, but it just doesn't seem to be the nature of these thing to leave the choke or enrichener on, at any level, for any more than a few seconds, and if you do......and if you dooooo,
She Shall Surely foul.
Say that three time as fast as you can.

One of the great thing about the Mikuni carbs is the great big throttle stop screw. I use it.

Past Peel's hand me downs Amals now on Trixie have slide thumb screws so can balance the puff balls side to side and diddle idle low for showing off at gatherings, then bump back up for real life use. Peel's single Miki carb was rather better performing 2500 to 7500 than the Amals and had to use adjustable choke cable enricher setting to warm up in 20's F I commuted in comfort with huge windscreen. Hope to do so again.
