I rode with a friend that had one while we were out around the Americade rally. He found us great little back roads while zoomed in. That sold me.

Is your bike a positive ground system?
On mine with positive ground I run a USB cable connected directly to the battery,fused 7V, up to my bars where I can plug in my GPS,vest,phone charger etc.
Works well for me.Connected to negative ground
