I placed an order from RGM on Aug. 22. Package shipped via UPS and arrived in US on Aug. 24. Package has been sitting in UPS Louisville KY warehouse since Aug. 24. I've been tracking the package via UPS tracking # and attempting to call them to speak to a real person with no luck.
Should we go back to Royal Mail only😀

It's like dodgeball.

I'm elated that AN and AMAL switched to UPS. Over 50% of my shipments by thieving DHL were a problem. I've had NO problems with UPS from AN, AMAL, or Wassell and the longest it takes is two days. It also costs less than DHL. Wassel used to use Parcel Force which was even faster, but very expensive.

In the other hand, I've never had a problem with DHL from Tri-Spark - go figure!

In the US, I consider only USPS unless absolutely forced to use UPS - I never ship by FedEx or DHL. All cost more than USPS except for ground and others provide poor service. For instance, a FedEx guy in a rainstorm threw a box from the back of his truck and it made it halfway down my driveway. Had I not seen it, the contents would have been ruined by morning. FedEx aslo likes to put packages in front of my screen doors so I can't get out and have to go out another door and around the house - that was real fun on crutches!

Be concerned.

Same thing happened when I shipped a VW transaxle from UK to New Hampshire. Tracking showed it at Manchester (NH, US) UPS terminal. For days. Finally, I went there.
They couldn't find it.
Baffled.
Finally, as I was leaving, they said:
"Waaaaait.... what was in the package?"

"Transaxle"

"Come out back, look at this"

Laying on the concrete floor at the edge of a busy terminal, was a mangled, broken lump. VW GGB transaxle. No box. No skid. No foam. No paperwork. No UPS label.
Nothing.
Bell housing cracked.
Rear housing cracked.
CV joint heat shield broken off.

I had paid $200 to a shipping firm to collect it from the breaker, and properly crate it, which they did, I have images.

UPS refused the claim, citing the packaging material didn't bear the US certification for burst strength. I contended that the images I had showed the EU equivalent on the packaging. Nope.
They suck. A lot.

UPS has another scam I reckon. I was sent a free replacement part that should be tax free. UPS decided it wasn't and wouldn't hand it over unless I paid up. I needed the part and begrudgingly paid. I put in a complaint and was told to fill in a form that I dutifully did. A small paragraph on the form explained it could take up to 60 days to get my money back.

Had a tank ship UPS from the painter in California on 8/31. Last tracking update was on 9/2 when it left the state apparently. So no progress update in the last 5 days. Needless to say I am nervous even though estimated delivery date is 9/11.

With UPS, you have to create an account to get actual detailed tracking. On the tracking page there is a place to login or signup - do that and the tracking details will be more. It's very disconcerting today to see the tracking not change for 4-6 days when we're used to most things going by air.

Even then when signed up, ground does not update except when it changes trucks. You can request text or email updates if signed up. I do so I have more records if something goes wrong.

USPS ground is usually much faster and has better tracking. But for big or heavy they may not be an option and/or may cost more. Their "ground" rarely actually goes cross country by truck.

I have a UPS business account but you are right about tracking updates being poor.

Last month I received a 100 lb. plus heavy, china sink that was dropped off at the builder's site. It was literally dropped, as in broken with a corner of the factory box mashed. I took photos that were sent to the shipper. They took it up with UPS, I presume, and sent another one. They did not want the broken one back.

IIRC UPS used to have a low weight limit. Apparently now they do not yet they do not have lift-gate service. That should have been in their recent union contract if it wasn't. On my box in bold, red letters was printed Heavy! Two man lift! Plus. We two big but old men did what we could to avoid lifting it, using my motorcycle lift to get it off my truck when we moved it to my kitchen project.

UPS is accepting items management knows one driver can't handle. Such items used to come truck-freight with lift-gate service but I suppose with the demise of Yellow Freight that's too much to hope for.

Always an adventure with international deliveries. My cylinder from AN arrived within 3 days. I got a bill from UPS today for .20 US Custom Duties and $12.00 Brokerage Charges. The $12 is a nuisance fee, not enough to bother fighting over.

They say Invoice Date was 9/12, Due date 9/23. Same day I received invoice.
