Universal Side Stand

Does anyone have experience using a bolt on universal side stand?
Thanks in advance
Yep when I was 17 I had one on my Barracuda
It used to roll around the frame however tight I did the bolts up
In the end I welded the clamp part to the frame

Same here. When I was 17 I bolted one onto my Continental GT which then required constant tightening. A year later I fitted a side stand from a Suzuki 250 to my 500 Domi. which I welded on. Clamp on stands are the best way to damage your bikes frame.

I have a clampon style on my Goldstar. The angle is quite steep, so the rotating force is quite low.
Any side stand at an angle similar to the later Commando would want to rotate.
I am pretty sure the stock side stand on my 1968 is a shorter steeper angle. I don't think it is a particularly great sidestand.

You didn't specify your model or year of bike, but it's worse than putting a set of vintage highway bars on a Commando. Frame damage. Just do the proper mod if there is one. Or fabricate your own. Welded is best if you know what you're doing.
