Unfinished cylinder head

I picked up this head online cheaply - I have no idea how the seller ended up with an unfinished casting like this. Are there still people or companies who could machine this into a useable head?

The number 06.3807 apparently makes it an alloy 850 head.

That’s been welded up in order to re-machine it to a bathtub combustion chamber shape…

Very cool project. I would look for someone to reangle the valves on it while you are at it, and flow the head so you can make sure the bathtub is not shrouding the valves. When I flowed my head and sprayed paint into the port the flow biased to the inside of the port. You will want to make sure that the person who does this has familiarity with these cylinder heads.

Is there an RH stamp on the head? You are going to want to have a specific engine in mind for this head as you are going to need to work with either a custom piston or adapt this for an existing piston, and the compression ratio will probably end up on the high side.

That's what it looks like. Probably meant to finish it something like this one, done by MEZ Porting. They have been out of business for quite a few years now, but you might be able to find someone to finish the work. I suspect it might be more expensive than it would be worth.

OK, I'm way out of my depth here - no idea what or why a bathtub chamber is nor a flowed head. Nor do I think I need to know.
