Where can I buy one of those clamp on under bar mirrors that seemed very popular on Triumphs in the USA in the 60s and 70s ?

You mean a BUCO BATES mirror ? who also did head lights, seats etc
They would have been nickel and dime mirrors back in the day, expensive if you can find one (NOS) these days.
Who knows, maybe they were a cut down long stem mirror ?

There are contemporary copies that look 'OK but the mirror OD might be a problem at 4 inches.

Maybe it is EMGO that are making these.

They were the way to go back then. Advantage is that your total width is not changed and you dont have to cut a hole in your handgrips for a
bar end. They are less effective though..

You’ve hit the nail on the head... bar end grips are a PITA for me with wide bars, they don’t fit through the gate on the side of the house !

here are some pics of my bikes with the underslung chrome 4" ones... you have to look between your left arm and torso to get rear view.. hope this helps I think these mirrors are emgo off ebay

Glad you got it sorted.
I have been looking for long stem BATES mirrors for my Eldorado for quite a long time but they are hard to find.
The modern versions just don't quite look right and have cheesy clamps :D:rohan

This is a period under bar mirror, its not bad for its age, from the era where even a cheap mirror had some quality.
