UK weather

As well Al being a scientist he keep drowning us all in logical B S, no I just ride my old motorcycle when I get back on it and enjoy life without over thinking things, I don't need all the B S, just 2 wheels and my new leg and the road a head of me will do me.

Yeah well when I was a kid it never got that hot never got that cold we never had trouble making the rent the money was solid food was cheap petrol was pocket change and my comb never had more hair in it than I had on my head.
Oh yeah and cars had fins. So except for that it was a perfect world.
 
Quick check of the heat map shows today was a good deal milder than past few days. Here along the SW coast it was not hot at all. It being saturday a good turn out at the beach and along the seaside.
 
Nobody out there .... enjoy it while it lasts ... Govt says to NOT travel unless absolutely essential ( FFS !!! )

Forget the heat ... in Wales we get this travel / weather tripe all the time and all year round too :
if it rains the speed limit on the motorway is reduced to 50 or sometimes 40 mph and
if it is a bit windy you also get the speed limit reduced to 50 or 40 mph.

Normal speed is 70

They ( the Welsh Govt ) even have the nerve to illuminate signs saying " adverse weather conditions " ... as if my eyes are unable to see
 
Just have to say it: rode out late this afternoon and I got cold. Ambient was about 68F. Wasn't properly dressed. Bring back the so called dangerously warm weather.
 
At what temperature would it not be wise to ride a 50yo air-cooled bike? With the danger of hitting stop & go traffic... Could it be bad for the motor?

Dunno.

I can’t imagine seeing temps hot enough to stop me riding for that reason.

But I would be changing the oil more frequently.
 
Don't ride in stop and go traffic, Norton's are made for open roads and twisties, in my hot summers i run a Lochart oil cooler, in fact run with it all year round, and run one on all my air cooled British bikes i owned, they still get up to riding temp as normal, been running a oil cooler since 1978, so 48 years.

I agree
But there's no choice where I live
But at least I can get out on some twisty roads 15 minutes from where I live
My commando is at home once I reach them
Better than sitting at home talking about it like Al does !!!!

So try to imagine one whole week at 40 C and above (44,6 top) and nights at 29-32 C. That's what we had a few days ago.

you had me right up until you mentioned the mountains turning blue. Are you sure you didnt mean this?

re. weather; there have been some big hillfires around my part of the world, one of them (Llangynidr mountain) has been burning for days and the smoke covers a very wide area. For followers of Paul Henshaw, (on YouTube) one of the areas he rides - up to the Llyn Brianne dam also has a large wildfire burning.

Fires on the hills aren't _that_ unusual, but the current sizes of / number of fires is unprecedented.
