I'm going thru the clutch on my 71 Cdo. It's been converted to a 5 plate clutch, and I'm replacing the bronze friction plates with Barnett fiber plates. Question !- should the steel plate in the very back of the basket thats staked in with rollpins have any amount of play in it? What I have is not radial play, but it rocks slightly on the pins, like it's not sitting flat on the pins and clutch basket. Question 2- In order to gain proper clutch stack height I have to use 3 .060 steel plates in place of the stock .080 ones, and add an extra .080 steel plate. does it matter where the extra steel plate is added? At the very back or the front by the pressure plate?
Thanks

The rear plate should not rock. It either has something under it or it is warped. I would use the thicker plates near the rear of the clutch pack, that is what sees the most wear. Jim
