2011-2012 was around the time the red V5C replaced the blue one so it could've been the reason for the 2012 V5C change.

In 2006 a batch of blue V5C log books were stolen (they were rejects) DVLC have been trying to get everybody to change to the red V5Cs.

Yes, I remember.

If I also remember correctly the DVLA eventually sent new red V5Cs to all registered keepers with instructions to destroy the old V5.

They did not send them all out, I had to remind them on 2 of my bikes which were on sorn during the period. I had lost the V5 on 1 but this gave me a way to get a new V5 without paying the replacement fee ;) .

Sneaky!

No, nobody would ever dream of doing that. o_O:confused:

No of course not....the only time I have clearly seen it done was when two pre-war MGs were parked side by side at a small local event! They both had the same registration number.....I don't recall if either actually had a tax disc!

(No need to physically swap registration plates in the UK because there is no date or 'tag' on them! And of course, tax discs are no longer issued)

Not too difficult to get new blank or stamped VIN plates and engine plates for old MGs either! I have a new engine plate on the original block in my MG, because they are aluminium and they rot away after 60 odd years!

(Bit like humans!)
