I have a front wheel laced for a 1973 Triumph, disk brake, 40 spokes. I was wondering if anybody knows if this rim could be laced (using the correct spokes) to a Norton front wheel hub for a disk, also 40 spokes.

The Triumph hub is about 3/8" narrower than the Norton hub, but similar in diameter. The offset on the Norton wheel looks a bit greater, perhaps 1/4 inch.

Could probably be done, but look at the angle the holes are punched in the commando rim, this would mean that when you lace up the trumpy rim your spoke nipples will end up at the wrong angle putting stress on the thread area of the spokes, not a good outcome.

After lacing one of these SOB's up last week, I can surely see the proprietory aspect of these wheels. It is also easy to see how someone could attempt maintanance on the spokes and lose the offset with a few uneducated turns of the disk side to try to get the same "tink" as the non disk side.

FWIW and IMHO, if anybody has the same tone on both side, the offset is sure to be gone.
