I am sure there is a thread on cutting a stock fender to emulate a strutless sport fender but cannot find it by searching. Would someone point me to it? Many thanks!

Background is I am running TT100 tires so CNW etc. are non starters. Plus I am cheap, the fender is scratched and will be painted and I am comfortable with metal fab work.

In reply to my own message maybe I can just go it with templates and attention to detail. Found something on Youtube. Just wanted to see what others had done repurposing their existing tin. Thanks!

Years ago I trimmed the fenders on my Sportster with nice factory paint. I just took some masking tape, making the design I wanted, and placed it where I wanted to cut. Then, I took a hacksaw with a sharp blade and slowly followed the edge of the masking tape. It came out nice, no paint chipped. Just went slow and careful.

John,
With the tires you are running,is there a clearance issue with the CNW fender?
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike it is the 4.10 profile which CNW warns will not work.

I will be deleting this thread and commenting on a different thread I started regarding new fenders and strut fit. Want to save server space.

I know it is a real PITA to cut and harder to roll!
John,
The cutting I understand but how to roll the edge without body tools,English wheel, etc has me baffled.Does the YouTube you mentioned cover this process?
Thanks,Mike

Bead roller.

Find a for real tin knocker. He'll have a bead roller AND be able to do the work without damage.
