Howdy- Two questions regarding installation/removal of the top fork bolts: 1) I've been using a set of plumber's bells to remove/install the fork bolts. Has anyone found a source for the proper size socket for this? It measures about 33.34 mm and I haven't been able to run one down. 2) Is there a specific torque value for tightening them, or is it just a snug 'em up tight kind of thing?

Any and all advice much appreciated as always.

I got a socket to fit from Allwoods the Motor Factors (1/2" drive). John's sockets are also fine - I have one that was supplied with his excellent damper kit!

The MK III Workshop Manual indicates 30ftlbs for part #06-0345 (stanchion top chrome nuts), I just do mine up 'tight' ;-)

i found an 1 5/16" socket at ace hardware, it was 3/4" drive so i had to use an adaptor at home. my dad also had a great little wrench in his norton tools, it's a really flat 9/16" ,right angle on one end (perfect for fitting in and getting those fork nuts off) and the straight end is a perfect fit inside the chain guard to undue the shock nut.
