I took Wednesday off to work on my R90/6 BMW , started off with a shed tidy, pushed the combat outside....poor thing has not been used since Feb. Put the battery on charge for a bit, had a bit of a tidy up, then hooked up the battery, started it up and left it idling for a bit, then switched it off and made a coffee.
I wonder if 'the bike guy' is in today at the testing station, but alas no, he was not but there was the other branch.
It was about 10 degrees on a cold Auckland day but hey its not raining so off I went.

The 'other' guy had me fuming.
" Your headlight beam pattern is not right"
" Its been right every six months for the last 3 years!"
" I'll get my manager"
Both of them " its not right mate"
Watch and learn guys as I tilted it down a bit.
" Thats better but ,oh its loose too mate..you want to sort that out"

One then grabs the bars and the other spins the front wheel.
" your wheel bearings are a bit rough mate"
" you can tell that from holding the bars eh?"
" What are your brakes like?" as he did not want to ride it.
" I use the 10 second rule, its like the 4 second one but for old bikes"
" ok, I'll give you a pass mate"

Before you know it I'm out of the city and out in the country riding, food who needs food, just a nice road with green moss in the centre for me
By the time I turned towards home my fingers were going numb and my back was freezing, nothing like being spontaneous and unprepared.
Pulled into the local irish pub that was an English pub a while back and had a nice Guinness and sat by the fire. Sorry no pics as it was too cold to stop.
Today I went for my monthly visit to my chiropractor who got me from barely able to walk to the shop to classic racing.
My lower back is killing me, is riding a kickstart bike at 52 catching up with me?
I suspect its from starting the bike from standing next it as the cause.

I must get around to doing some work on my BMW too.

I had some fun at the Pakaranga testing station years ago, took my SII 88in landy in, they have reverse forward and left but there is supposed to be a spring loaded gate to make it hard to get reverse, which wasnt spring loaded on mine anymore. The tester put it in reverse instead of 1st and put a nice dent in the number plate of the car behind with the towbar and then proceed to fail it on all sorts of picky little things cause he was in a bad mood!

One Hunga centuries ago , after the inspection & noise check ( she had a T150 breadbox tank a friend had welded a few cutouts in to fit, with a pin hole )
sitting on the sidestand , with ' the Guy ' on the left ranting about Bantams as he writes out the W.O.F. , he's glanced at the drip ( which has just occured )
onto the right hand pipe . Drip - phizz. . . drip - phizzzz . . . drip - phizz , as im looking for somewhere to dive if its drip - pouff . Nah , thats o.k. was his
opinion .

Best testing place was the one when I lived in Sydney, " is that your bike there mate, the Ducati?"
"Yes"
I paid the money and he gave me the " pink slip"

awesome.

My back is killing me today, think the sideways kick starting may have contributed.

I was working in a factory and the Foreman (Harley shop owner) said shoot me a hundred and the ownership. Big penaltys for that nowadays.
