I thought I would take a short ride in my back yard today as the weather is still good and I will be closing the campground and going south in a few weeks.

do the math and you will see, not to bad for a 750 combat w twin amals.
all in all it was a great day out and 150 miles covered on some great roads and beautiful scenery.

Oh my bill, I know Grandfather Mt Smokey Mt's area as frequent vacation location as a trailer camping family growing up and later as adult in snow flurries up GF Mt. Thanks for the flash backs and glad you get to savor it on such an efficient Combat Bomb.

Gorgeous part of the world you live in there Bill.
The more photos I see of it the more I want to visit it. One day I hope. It's on the bucket list.
That and Mid Ohio!

Does the word "jealous" come to mind? This post by the "Godfather" of Florida-based Norton Motorcycles is so classic. Windy (aka, "bill") is living the life we could only dream of....during the summer he operates his cycle-friendly campsite in Shady Valley, TN for those wishing to experience the wonders of the Tennessee-North Carolina-Virginia "triangle"...and in the winter blasting around the Florida foothill twisties (yes, they do exist!) helping out folks like me who enjoy spending time with him. Windy is one class act...long-time contributer to this Forum, sharing his wealth of knowlege and offering un-biased opinions on how to keep our vintage iron on the road. I'm so indebted to him for all he's done to help me and my bike emerge from a rusted pile of nuts & bolts to the sweet ride I enjoy today....but enough about that.

The spring/summertime world Windy lives in is so well documented on the BritBike Forum in the numerous threads about the Three Sate Mountain Ride....check it out...must be 10 or 11 years running now where folks from all over the U.S. descend on Shady Valley for several days riding "Windy's World" and then break camp and head into Blowing Rock, NC...take over a local hotel...and spend the rest of the week doing 200+ mile daily rides, laughing, kicking tires, eatin' & drinkin', live music, etc. all in celebration of vintage riding and the joy it brings...and the brotherhood it creates. My hat's off to you, Windy...your're one class act...a dying breed of true gentlemen, honest and factual, knowlegeable and willing to share that knowledge....I'm proud to call you a friend.

gee chip nothing like trying to embarrass some one  it is a tough life but someone has to do it but I sure am not getting rich doing this campground thing. it is a wonderful place to spend 6 months of the year in with the roads we have to enjoy and scenery. if anyone on here wishes to visit I am just a phone call or e mail away and can offer guide service or info on what to see and do. I will even offer a discount to forum members.
