I was in a local shop the other day and over heard one of the mechanics tell a customer he prefers resistor plugs in his norton over regular plugs. The customer had explained some sort of intermitent issue? He is running electronic ignition and solid state regulator. I personally use the old standby NYC7 Champion....... your thoughts??

As far as I know, According to my Auto electrician mate, resister plugs are used where there is a problem with static etc in radios, I am not aware of any other benefits...AC.

They are also needed for many of the electronic ignition units available for the Commando, the radio noise from regular plugs can cause problems for the control unit....resistor plug wires will do the job too

Thanks Guys ! Maybe my old E-ignition will benefit from a change .........

Originally it was for radio listeners static relief, later to also protect electronics, particularly the digital type. Analog Boyers work fine w/o any R added to the leads or plugs, but can turn LED's on bike into timing lights I found. Some extra R over plain copper conductors may help fire a plug better on some systems as voltage must build higher before the spark jumps. Coils nowaday fire enough volts fast enough to over come a few 1000 extra ohm, but older coils helped to fire by less R.
