Titanium Valve collars

Hi

Does anyone have a supplier for these?
I cant free the collets as they have wedged there way into the alloy collars the Maney engine runs at the moment. I was going to use steel but it was suggested that titanium are lighter & give no problems.

Titanium collars are fine for high mileage. I've had them on my 850 for a lot of miles with no problems. I made these myself but my 750 uses some I got from Steve Maney. They are listed on his site c/w valve springs but might be available separately. If not I think Norvil sells them.

Their stuff takes about a week to arrive from Greece (to UK) and the Greek tax (as EU) and postage charges are quite reasonable.

I also got some from Hemmings.

When you install them make sure you stone off any sharp edges on the valve collets. If you don't the collets will work into the titanium collars and you will have a very very hard time getting them out.

I would not use alloy collars because I have seen some pull through if the aluminium is not of the very highest spec and valve spring pressures very high.

I would not use aluminum collars either -except for the Kibblewhite aluminum collars. They come with special 10 degree collets [keys] that eliminate pull through problems. I have used them on many builds and have been on my streetbike for many miles.
They are close to the weight of the tiny Ti collars used with the conical springs -which is the other setup I like. Jim
