Had a good evenings tinkering with the visuals of the rear of the bike.
First job was to get the rear cowl to sit as near perfect in alignment as I could and with minimal gap between the top/bottom as possible. After a bit of swapping in and out various thickness washers I think I have got it just right. The factory use set thickness washers between the pillars on the underside of the cowl and it's base plate so I simply used thicker/thinner where needed.
Second job was to remove the rear reflector and it's bracket that sits behind number plate. It wasn't on my list of things to do but a few of the lads here seemed to think it needed to be done!
Third job was to replace oem indicators with some smaller LED ones I found on ebay. I went for the chrome look to fit in with all the other polished parts. I also had to fit a new flasher unit whose speed isn't determined by power consumption. Indicators, like mirrors, are a personal choice so I don't expect others to like them.... but I do, especially for the price. Where else but from China can you get a set of 4 for £10 including postage!!!
Fourth job was to replace rear tail/stop bulb with led. It is a 68SMD type which I had also fitted to my Triumph last year. It's very bright and has good contrast between tail and stop which many of the aftermarket led bulbs don't have.
I will get the front LED's put on over the weekend and get the tank off to see if I can get a handle on what's going on with my battery..... or I might just go out for a ride instead
