Had a good evenings tinkering with the visuals of the rear of the bike.

First job was to get the rear cowl to sit as near perfect in alignment as I could and with minimal gap between the top/bottom as possible. After a bit of swapping in and out various thickness washers I think I have got it just right. The factory use set thickness washers between the pillars on the underside of the cowl and it's base plate so I simply used thicker/thinner where needed.

Second job was to remove the rear reflector and it's bracket that sits behind number plate. It wasn't on my list of things to do but a few of the lads here seemed to think it needed to be done!

Third job was to replace oem indicators with some smaller LED ones I found on ebay. I went for the chrome look to fit in with all the other polished parts. I also had to fit a new flasher unit whose speed isn't determined by power consumption. Indicators, like mirrors, are a personal choice so I don't expect others to like them.... but I do, especially for the price. Where else but from China can you get a set of 4 for £10 including postage!!!

Fourth job was to replace rear tail/stop bulb with led. It is a 68SMD type which I had also fitted to my Triumph last year. It's very bright and has good contrast between tail and stop which many of the aftermarket led bulbs don't have.

I will get the front LED's put on over the weekend and get the tank off to see if I can get a handle on what's going on with my battery..... or I might just go out for a ride instead :)

I know any 961 is a fab/ lush / nice bike & an anniversary model even more so but , it’s only the ruling monarch of this country that does not have to display a number plate ,you ride it like that to our next meet & u would cause speculation on the roads !

That’s not only the worlds blankest number plate, it is surely also the worlds biggest.

It’s a bit like one of those parachutes that drag bikes have...

Owt less than 7x5 will require a re engineered carbon rear end thingy.

I re engineered an inch off the bottom of mine with a hacksaw to suit my 7x5.

Weight saving...

I often wonder what future generations will make of all our images taken on phones which use wide-angle lenses, close on fisheye, as they do distort everything!

'Legal' are 9x7. Mine are 8x7 which squares them up a bit more 'classic'. I probably could cut these back close to 7x6 and get away with it. The only times in the past I have ever been pulled by the plod is 'cos of number plates. Back in them days it was a 'producer' at the local 'nick' but think they attract an automatic fine these days.

My mum always maintained that I was 32nd in line but she never said in line to what :)

My plate is 7x5 it’s is technically wrong with 8 to 9 mm spacing between numbers/ letters & not the 10mm that it should be , I’ve got some great gel tape to stick the plate on the carbon rear hanger ,& if any of u 961 ers are welcome for a strip ,just pm me ,the 7x 5 plate just sits on the hanger exactly,I not got the the reflector anymore that vibrates & shakes about a lot ,have a temp one on utopia plate at

The gel tape is used in the sign trade & will def not fall off let alone come loose.

Another good afternoon tinkering....

1. found the missing letters off my licence plate and stuck'em back on ;)
2. fitted the front led indicators, a little more involved than the rear but otherwise straightforward.
3. emptied my airbox catch bottle
4. shortened oil lines to oil cooler (not quite finished, having a pizza and beer break).

One of the more unique thread titles I have seen in a while...glad it was in reference to your motorcycle.
