Devildog,

Do you think dinner will be ready by 8:00? If I leave work by 3:30 on Friday, I should just make it in time.

and im not finished yet.....to clarify a few points[ha ha ha ha] i am not referring to japanese oem points nippon denso,nd tek and the like which if you ride a jap bike [and i will admit to having a bunch of them] are the only way to go...i am referring to the cheap-ass chinese manufacture points that are sold as replacement parts even for jap bikes....they come in a 2 tone bron box i think and when i come across a box of this misery i will post the name....i also do not claim that lickass oops i mean lucas is bulletproof because we have all had experience to the contrary...but after having gone through several restorations and repairs i have found that the lucas stuff is repairable and can be made reliable if you are willing to actually tear the components apart and clean and lube and maintain them....you actually have to do something not just replace the stuff or complain about it...i have heard enough bs about jap electrics being reliable-they are no more reliable than any other countries stuff and it will crap out just like lucas....note to jap bike owners-check all your bullet connectors that are under the seat.betcha the clear plastic is hard and brown from a little bit of corrosion causing the connection to heat up and fail-you are welcome....and boyer, like lucas, can be made pretty much reliable except for the blown pickup coil wire that i had once and that really left a bad taste in my mouth....so are you mechanically inclined or electrically so? there are a lot more mechanical aspects to the lucas stuff and points in general and if you dont have [in this day and age]higher than average mechanical skills you had better be good at pushing that norton...and whatever you do do not let the smoke leak out of you wiring harness....back when ifeel like yapping again...barry

Oh if the smoke leaks out just put it back in with the Smoke Injection Kit. There was a guy on ebay selling one recently. Look him up and I'm sure he can set you up with another one!

I carry one of them on my Norton. It consists of a roll of 16 awg wire, rosin core solder, and a butane soldering iron!!

(Have you hugged your Boyer lately?)

if you are making a smoke repair kit crappy tire has these really boss little lighters called solder it and they are a mini butane soldering torch at about 20 bucks....good for heating up those small castings to get out the small screws that you shoulda put some grease on when you put it together and when ya get really frustrated they are the best for lighting up a bowl to counter that frustration---- assembly note--always put something on threads...grease,loktite or antiseize but never assemble anything dry...for those of you locked in the physical world it should be noted that a points ignition delivers a better spark than any transistor triggered system because of the characteristics of the spark generated at the points...much like a spark-gap transmitter of the tesla era.....ride on barry
