Timing Advance above 3000?

I just fitted my Tri-Spark and it started right up. I love it already.
Question though: I've got 28* at 3000, but it goes up to 32 at higher rpms. My wife was working the throttle so I don't know what rpm she was at, but I saw 32* as she revved it. Is this too much, or is this what it's supposed to do?

3000 RPM is the figure given for checking the original points ignition.
According to ludwig's graph, the Tri-Spark is not fully advanced by 3000 RPM.
I set mine to 28 degrees maximum advance.

I think you are just fine with a trispark showing maximum advance of around 32 blipped up to say 4000 or whatever your wife pegged it at.

One good way to know if you have too much advance is if the kicker kicks back back you when starting. Does it?

I set my Tri Spark at 30 degrees max advance. 32 is probably OK. Hear any detonation under load? Mine never pings. Anyway, you really should know the rpm vs. advance. I can't sleep without knowing the truth... My timing light has a tach on it so that makes it easier. But you could just rev the piss out of it until it stops advancing and you'd know what's up.

31 Max . Makes it a bit crankey , if cammed . Optimum performance require greater rider involvement . Something like that , anyway .

If youre sure all else is right , itll loft the front end easier @ 31 .
