Throttles

Hi all,

I have the 34mm Mikuni conversion. The previous owner put a Maguro single-pull throttle assy. on the bike.

It looks like Poop :p :p :p :p :!:

It doesn't fit the area on the handlebar well, and rubs against the existing assy. It looks bulky and not very aesthetic.

Any suggestions out there :?: :?:

What do Mikuni owners use :?: :?:

Hi Dana...

I changed out the dual Amals on my Norton for a single Mikuni and won't go back!

I used the stock throttle and later changed it out for a sixties era Triumph set up. Looks great and works!

I did scrap the throttle cable that came with my kit and had one made by Fred at Old Britts.

Hope this helps....

Hi DaveC,

Thanks for the information.

Do you by any chance belong to the NCNOC? If so, maybe I can take a look at your bike at a future ride. I'm only an hour or so away from you.

Also, do you have a pic you can send me ??? If not, no biggy.

You can PM me to keep the airwaves clear :)

Take care,

Mikuni

Dave C.

I met Dana last Sunday at the January ride of the NCNOC. The club will have a "North Bay Ride" on April 18 meeting at Muscowitz Corner (Hwy 128 & Hwy 121)around 11:00am. That's in your area, so come by and join us. See more about the club at http://www.nortonclub.com

My '72 combat needs dual carbs, so I sleeved the Amal Concentrics. They work very well and deliver 60mpg riding the back roads of Northern California. I tried dual 32mm Mikunis 17 years ago on a '73 750. They don't fit very well having to be splayed out. I hear the Amal MkII is narrower and fits in parallel. I may try that sometime in the future.

Greetings Dana & Dave!

No, I have not joined the NCOC. . . yet. Have been considering it, so I may yet make the leap and hook up. Would enjoy hooking up for a ride and meeting you.

Dana, Jerry has some pictures posted on his site of my Norton, Daisy.
Check out Visuals, and look for Dave Comfort's Bike. There is a close-up picture of the Grimeca Master cyclinder and the throttle set-up is visible.

That single pic may not be so helpful. If not let me know and I can send other pictures.

Daisy is looking a bit different than the posted pictures. I have both the Interstate and Roadster tanks and am back to running the Interstate with a Silver paint job. I ride the bike daily and got tired of hitting the gas station every day.

Dave, you get great mileage on you bike. My 850 is only getting about 32mpg with a single 34mm Mikuni. Might be my carcass size and the gear on the bike that causes that. Hmmmm, well, part of it anyway.

C-ya.....
