Out today for my longest ride yet on my 850 mkII...some 3-4 hrs around town and up/down a mountain. Got at least four shout outs by the ladies, nothing more than occasional nod from other riders of the male variety.

Since I'm of the " if they don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy" variety, I'm not used this kind of attention....

Got a blonde stop out front and say " nice Norton" 3 hrs. ago. Said thankyou. Tank was off , and I was figuring out why there was no sparkage. Gurls do prefer Nortons.

Mine is no longer a Commando but Commando/Featherbed where ever I go on it its always gets it lookers mine you more male lookers than female, its always dirty looking because its ridden, but have had a few ladies wanting to sit on it to get their pic taken, once a mother came up to me asked if she could take a pic of her just turned 17 year old daughter sitting on my bike, my mates got a bit upset becaused they pick my bike and not theirs lol and didn't I rub it in to them after.
A few times while out and stop at a place where lots of Harlies are parked I will pull up in the middle of them, this grubby old Norton parked beside all the shiny new Harlies get them all mobbing around my bike and they always wait till I get back on and kick it to life on the first kick then give it a hand full when I take off.
Once when pulled up had a smart arse woman shout out from her group of Harley riders and say to me "when are you going to get a real bike" I walked up to her and said to her "get on the back and I show what a real bike does" all her male friends pissed themselfs with laughter she must have been the mouth of the group.
Only a few who know their bikes have worked out what my bike is, a one off build by my own hands and a lot of the girls just love it, dirty and grubby looking just like its owner.

Well just to top it off a gurl said I look sexy in my carpenter overalls about 30 minutes ago. I was working on the Norty all afternoon , no sparkage.
Always wear overalls . Yah....Always ask how their day has been or is going.

My 6 year-old grand-daughter wants me to show her how to build a motorcycle. We were watching a vid of a Rob North Rocket 3 on the IOM - she said 'I can do that'. She has read 14 pages of my book about Triumph Bonnevilles.

Oh dear. Can’t you cure the poor girl before it’s too late ?!

And most of them never had one. Instead they tell you stories of the guy in town who had two and was a local hero, and how once he....

Yawn...!

So true! Can't count the number of times some 60 ish guys have told me about the Norton they had that went 150 mph. They must of all been from Arkansas. If it were not for the Norton emblems they wouldn't even know what the hell they were looking at.

Truth is this forum is kinda bland without the Hobot .... I miss his input and foolishness .... imagine what he would have to say on this thread ..... I am a sixtyish guy and I have certainly gone faster than that , just not on the Commando....

My favourite

" My Uncle had one ( Vincent) just like yours, only it was the high powered 4 cylinder one, the Black Widow. They are really rare!"

No use arguing , he knew his stuff so I agreed that a four cylinder Vincent Black Widow would be a very rare bike :)

Best thing is for us old guys is the full coverage helmet as the babes ogle
the Norton blissfully unaware that their grandad is younger than we are.
Yes...I think that's what kept a 20-something Bonne rider gal keen to keep chatting me up while ogling the Norton...but we can still dream can't we?
