I was on line and there was an artical of how the the Federal Reserve was going to follow Sweden and China and go cashless.
I was skeptical so I asked the branch manage of the bank, Chase, we do business with.
He said yes there were plans to do so, no him hawing just yes.
Q)So I asked why?
A)Makes people more accountable was what her said!
Q) So, with this it would kill swap meets, yard sales, paying the kid down the street to mow your lawn or shovel your drive ? Tipping the waiter or waitress and the like.
A) yes it would.

Now you may think I'm full of it, you wouldn't be first. But do as I did and ask your bank or credit union or who ever you do your banking with.
Think about this. With this kind of power the government can control what you buy where you buy it. Please prove me wrong because I sure want to be.

I fully agree it is in the works .... the govt will know everything about you from what you buy.

Swap meets may still exist .... but dealers will have to take credit cards or PayPal. As far as paying the kid down the street to mow your lawn, forget it, you will be forced to hire a registered lawn service entity. You will not even be able to send the grand kids a Franklin in a greeting card.

The Govt will know your political affiliations, the organizations you contribute to, your hobbies, your lifestyle, .... everything. If they want to target you because of any such affiliations, you are toast.

Oh Lord, my God, is there any help for our country?

It all part of the big plan to reinstate serfdom and lords... Don't look so shocked because you've known all along by the elites behavior towards the masses.
The globalist want to create a twenty first century Feudal system, with themselves as the Aristocracy, and the rest of us as serfs, with a dual system of laws, one for them, and another for the serfs.

It may get worse, they may wish to "green" the planet by eliminating 2/3 of the planet's population. Is that too far out? Remember Joe Stalin eliminated some 30 to 60 million of his own "surplus" people, and did the Chicoms release the Covid virus to remove some of their surplus?

Be vigilant.

Slick

When the banking system fails then what? Hording gold is starting to look pretty good.

Forgot to mention most of those things are already dead in the Seattle area. They really embrace the "guidelines" on the left coast.

What would stop the government from deciding what your cost of purchases would be? What you pay at the grocery store could depend on your income. This already happens with government issued cards.

I have some rather strong opinions on this sort of stuff so I'm going to back out and take a cruise on something old and proud from better and kinder times of gov't. minding its own damned business and doing the job it exists for..... The wind and thunder do call me.

I think I will go with you ...

They can't get rid of the penny for crissakes. How are they going to go cashless

Everyone gets a smart phone right? 32 million americans are eligeable for free phones right? It's on the TV many times a week. Buy on the phone, sell on the phone, have a govt assigned QR code for each entitled citizen and even illegals won't be illegal if they have a smart phone. McDonalds-smart phone, package store-smart phone, hell even the local hooker will have a QR tattoed on her butt!

Swap meets... no problem then they can collect sales tax like EBAY and all kinds of interstate sales do now. Used parts is no reason to not pay sales tax.
BIG GOVT is now assured starting january. Environmental you betch ya. Toxic emitting wood stoves is on the hit list.

Most of us are old enough to wince when we think of the old line: "It can't happen here!"
Political types live on votes and money. The vote bother has now been removed and your
wallet is next. I mean that literally. You won't need one.

Onder, agree with your sentiments re: 'It can't happen here'.
I can't comment too much on what's going on 'over the pond' but here in blightly cash still works fine.
Just had my Commando oil tank bracket welded and settled the invoice in cash.
Bank of England has just funded research that showed COVID transfer on our new plastic bank notes is 'low risk'.
Cash still has a way to go yet imho.

No supper tonight because I'm chewing on my tongue..... At the rate I'm going I should be adequately full come dinnertime to abstain from eating.

No cruise either.... Nodded into an old man snooze and dreamed a high speed run on my Norton... such is life.

No, I use my smartphone for such things. As kids mostly have smartphones too.
As paying a hooker is illegal in my country, no need for cash.

I do hope so... but: In my local supermarket: Ten self service checkouts of which only two accept cash, so all us luddites have to stand like pariahs as the new generation rush past.
Every utility company and service provider pushing for 'online' account registration, though some hide behind the 'save paper, save trees' argument whilst filling their envelopes with junk advertising crap.
Local banks closing everywhere, and I'd be surprised if cash points stay free much longer.
Read the internet and find out the bank that started 'free current accounts' regret that move, negative interest rates are a bad rumour but some want them introduced..
The writing is on the wall?

There is a law in place that allows the banks to take your savings. They get in trouble because of mismanagement and they take your money to keep themselves solvent. This was passed under Obama but we pretty much know it was done with help from both sides of the political divide. So much for the FDIC.

There used to be a swap meet hosted by the BSAOC of Southern California in Huntington Beach. That was killed off because the county wanted sales taxes collected and I believe they held the club responsible for collecting it. Moved out to Riverside and I don't know if it continued from that?

Wood burning stoves, some pellet stoves now have computer chips in them! Wonder if they have found a way to hack them?

I think we have a system whereby if the bank goes t*ts up HM Govt will cover the first £85k in any number of accounts.....
But whether that still holds in these strange days???
