Thieving Bastards. Small enough communities to show up hopefully soon. SO... How to encript parts to help police or oursleves Track ?

If you live in a place

where thieves know that it is very unlikely that they will caught (because the police don't do that),

where property crimes are not investigated,

where even if the stupid scrotes are caught it is unlikely that they will be prosecuted,

where if they are prosecuted it is unlikely that there will be any significant punishment ...

Then as far as theft goes, you are hosed unless you take control. Theft is very profitable and very low risk under those conditions.

There's a solution, and I've successfully used it to prevent any of my or my family's stuff from being stolen for over 50 years, but nobody wants to hear it so I'll keep it to myself.

I want to hear it...

The amount of bike theft in the uk is getting worse all the time, for anybody interested i suggest a staying away from Edinburgh with a bike, the thefts are reported Daily at the moment.

If I were worried about theft, I'd have a hidden motion sensor camera on it 24-7, and the get away area too. They're not that expensive now. Might be lucky and get a plate number.

ive got a motion sensor facing the door entry to my shed that triggers an alarm by the side of my bed,i will hear it but don't think the thieves will, that then triggers the opening of bedroom window and the cocking and loading of an hw80 waiting for the barstewards to come out.

keeping the place well lit with only one way off of your property with a bike might help ..... another good deterrent is a nasty dog that sleeps lightly during dark hours .... as DogT say cameras are cheap these days and a photo may help lead Police to recovery as no doubt the crooks are all ready known to them .... sure hope you see your bike again in your own shed ....

My video CCTV caught a guy (crack addict girlfriend beater) walking off with $1100+ of my stainless steel stock from the back of my shop. Thumb drive in the system to copy the file. Town detective says this is a slam dunk. 90 days served, + 2years or restitution. You can see a copy of the $1100 check on my office wall. Guess he didn't want 2 years in the big house.

option2: permitted for 12 guage/9mm/357 mag etc. + kabota with 7' 7" deep backhoe.
My shop is posted "by appointment only".
It is not surprising to me that at my new location, after 6 years in this state (Massachusetts) of criminally stupid people, out of hundreds of illiterates that can't read the signs at the road/property line....In all that time (6 years) I have had one, yes only one, that called from the street for appointment /permission to enter. I was right there and watched him out the window call on the cell. He received a warm reception and came in.
All the rest of the trespassers deserve what I give them... a lot of sh#t
if caught stealing check option 2

Chris
Best plan by far for night burglary. Exactically what I as going to post.
Sorry what is a hw 80? Do I need one too?

An HW80 is a small caliber air rifle...per his signature, Chris is a Brit after all. I think given the arsenal you listed previously that you have the situation well in hand (unless you need something for plinking cans).

The Shootist an old 1976 western where John Wayne (J.B. Books)
hands the robber his wallet. Mr. you better find yourself another line of work.....

dynodave,as stated above its a 22 calibre air rifle,i don't think it will kill anyone, but will give you a sore arse for a while,i think it marketed as a beeman r1? in the usa chris

Im afraid the current Official Attitude in the UK is you are supposed to be insured.
At least you can get some of your investment back.
...some.

Such is modern life.

In this state you're better off killing the bastard (saves the real taxpayers a lot of cheese), lest the courts award the miscreant with your assets and send you off to prison; probably a good idea to put your drop gun on the perp...

Rocky Point has a dog, a Smith & Wesson and cameras, which I have not needed as I am there 7 days and many hours...

Option 2 would work for me, I have a swamp behind my house. JUST KIDDING NSA !

I prefer rehabilitation over direct burial via Kubota.
My plan would be to zip tie the felon to a chair then invite the local section of the Vincent Owners Club over.
Make the bastard listen to an entire evening spent discussing and arguing over Vincent Valve Guide clearances.
Enough to make any hardcase go straight!
