How many Commando riders have the ultimate stable mate ~ and I know there quite a few ~

Norton Commando and Triumph/ BSA triple ~

Well mine is coming together ~ (Have to add ~ I have a set of cables running from the Comando to the Trident ~ till I buy a battery for the Triple ~ )

( Oh ~ the fuel tank is the wrong model, and does not fit .. thus the poly box ~  :D :D :D :D :D :D )

BSA/Trump triple are good bikes (i've had a few) but the ultimate "stable Mate triple" - well i'd disagree

Hey Stu, thought you'd sourced the right tank? Is it still in transit?

I agree with Stuart,

This one is on SF Bay area Craigslist. Wouldn't mind it sitting next to the combat.

I'm sure I have near the ultimate stable mate for my '75 Interstate SOMEWHERE in my collection, in the opinion of at least a dozen people. Take your pick:

British
Triumph pre-unit big twins
Unit "dry frame" Bonnies (65 through 70, inclusive)
Oily frame Bonnie Specials
T150 Trident
T160 e-start Trident
Bsa A50

European
BMW R60/5
BMW 100RS
Guzzi 850 Eldorado

Japanese
Honda CB750 K or F models, 900F
Kawasaki KZ1000
Kawasaki H1 500 triple

That pretty much covers 500 - 1000 cc, I've got a few others...

My 73 850 Commando shares my shop with his buddies:
76 750k Honda,
78 750k Honda with sidecar,
71 Triumph trophy,
77 Guzzi Lemans.
There are other more modern bikes but these are the ones in it's same time frame. I'm patiently looking for an R90 S to keep the Lemans and Commando company as well. It will happen someday.

All I need is something German to make a well-balanced garage.

Has to be a twin - of course.

Well, just be different I've got a 1050 Tiger that I think is fantastic. I go places and do things on it with a larger group that I just couldn't do with the Norton (assuming it will be running one of these months). They're most all good as far as I'm concerned.

66 650SS
70 S type
74 850 mk2a
81 GS1000S
02 H/D ULTRA 1450
01 H/D WIDEGLIDE 1550

Brian, sorry but the 74 Eldo with front disc is the locomotive for our daughter's sidehack. When she's 18 (only 14 more years) she can do whatever she wants with it.

My Nortons have a variety of stablemates to keep them from getting lonely. Two of my favorites:

1970 Suzuki T500:

2007 Ducati GT1000:

Both are great bikes in their own way. Each offers a unique riding experience.

Debby

I have a 1995 electraglide for long range trips, like 1200 miles in a week riding.
Usually when I go to Americade we ride like this.
I would like a BMW R90s in either ghost grey, I love that grey fade to black look
or the orange crush it is very cool too.
My commando would probably make the weeks riding agenda but there is no storage

When I get my Norton back it will share the garage with a 75 R90S restomod, along with the 96 900 SS/SP Ducati and the 750 SS Ducati racebike . Paul I think Debby' s T500 was known as the Titan while the Hustler was the X-6 250 right ? I have thought that a T160 would make a nice addition along with a 74 CB 550 Honda .

Ron

Ron, you may be right on the Titan / Hustler thing.

"The one I never should have sold" ('74 CB550, all punched out) would be a great stable mate to my Norton...

My Commando is a harlot. She wouldn't tollerate another bike in her stable. She'd piss oil all over me first chance she got. But in 35 years I've never wanted anything else so it doesn't matter.

Bikes are like tools, its good to have a few different ones for the type of riding you plan to do that day. I'd love to have as many choices as GP but I have to contain myself to seven. It mostly boils down to three I ride regularly anyway.
