When I was a fair bit younger there was a rather popular movie (for bikers at least) called Stone. It mainly featured the then-new Kwaka 9, but there was also a Commando that the hero rode for a short while before binning it. If memory serves it was a yellow S type. I wonder if anyone knows what became of this bike or whether it was a write-off after the (staged) accident. The movie was shot in and around Sydney, so it's most likely to still be in NSW?

Yes it was Garry McDonald as the mechanic wasn't it. I remember they used to show it at the Bathurst drive-in (on Conrod straight) during the Easter bike races. Man that was half a life-time ago. Must see if I can get a hold of the movie and watch it again. Hey, it might even be my bike Graeme!

It was a red / orange colour. he traded it in to Norman G and bought the 900 kawasaki with the "clown suit" red and white full fairing.
the fellow riding the Commando could pull good wheelies.
It would be interesting to know what happened to it.

graeme Im glad you pointed out that it was the red/orange colour, thats what I had in my memory but i was not sure that old age had not caught up with the computer between the ears so I waited for some one to comment. Last time it was on TV was back in about 1996 on SBS or was it 1994. Cant remember but who cares at our age, like Easy rider you had to be there when it came out to fully appreciate it as the times change and when you see something from the past the illusion is broken sometimes. Like how fast/good we could ride back then gets better as we get older and the real memory dims.
