Good Report Richard.  I talked to David Coote about the coils hanger tank bracket.  He thought then that this is a weak point and will break.  So maybe Norton have designed one that is better.  Yours can be welded or brazed for sure and with some thought can be improved as well ?


I can also say that I have tested my fuel mileage extensively and am pleased to report that I am happy with it. In fact if a O2 sensor goes bad it hurts the fuel mileage not help it !

From my 2000 mile trip :  in US miles per gallon with iphone gps tested mph

64 to 68 mph = 53.5 mpg

70 to 75 mph = 43.5 mpg

80 to 85 mph = 45.5 mpg


Yes , that's right folks , It's gets better at 80 to 85 then 70 to 75 !!  And that's full load side bags , tank bag , tail pack and geared up .  Who said a Norton 961 ain't a touring bike ?
