Often just means the fault code in the ECU has to be reset. Many cheap OBDII readers can do this. Your local auto accessories shop will probably sell them. But recommend buying a bluetooth OBDII reader on-line, very cheap you just need to install an app on your smartphone. Just plug into the OBDII plug located near the ECU.


Richard have you tried unplugging the simulator yet to see if it makes a difference?
