Ok, so I can't convince her to let me park my bikes in the house anymore (when we met, my Norton spent winter storage in my 3rd floor bedroom), but a couple weeks ago she just said out of the blue, let's hang that big Norton photo in the living room. It was motivation enough for me to give the ceiling a fresh lick of paint, which I think may have been her intention.
It's the famous 'Lotta Torque...' shot of Frank Gillespie taken by Dan Mahony at Ascot Park in 1974. Dan himself made a print for me and sent it down to Australia. He's got over 40 years of iconic shots so if you want something, just email him at mahonyphotos@yahoo.com
I've got another shot from the same event, the main race at night, but this one from the heats is the best. It's good to know Frank won the main that day.

Ha! See how nice she is if you hint at re-painting your Commando! Sounds like a long term keeper that knew she wasn't your first love eh. Mine is still putting up with Ms Peel front and center but gets me back jungling up the place with wintered plants and moving my tool and parts around, so now I can get back at her a bit by asking where this and that is around the house beyond the ordinary inquiry. A Lot of Torque About Norton, gotta find a place for that quote on Peel somewhere.

3RD FLOOR !!!!! I have a hard time getting mine on the freaking center stand much less up 2 flights of stairs!

Just purchased a power 2000 lb. winch to bring Crazy up my stairs this very- close winter. Will photopost on Norton up those stairs thread. In this city a shacky garage goes for the price of a house in America so must get inventive ,no inheritance coming due to a re-marriage.

My brother and I removed the front end which would allow us to stand it up straight on the rear wheel to get around tight corners on the staircases. Put it back together once upstairs where it would sit beside my bed until spring.
Torontonian, I only gave up my garage in the Annex a couple years ago. My Katana and XL350 were stored there, I think the neighbours have been happy with the peace and quite from the lack of all night repair and test ride sessions. My landlord never raised my rent in 10 years, but I think it close to tripled for the new tenant after I left. When I was searching for a garage, I found that once I found one that was affordable, the offer would be retracted when they found out i was a "biker". Shit, I was a clean cut "suit" working for an insurance company at the time!

If she's making you jungle all her plants around the least she could do is move your tool and parts a little for you Hob.

What would we do without them. My better half is helping me sort my wiring harness since I am somewhat chromatically challenged (ie red /green colorblind). By the by, today is our 40th anniversary.

Oh yes wives, are wonderful, bills get paid, shopping gets done (but I do the cooking), they keep you warm at night, let you know when you've had to much to drink too much and are acting like an a**hole and keep the place clean... but there is no f*****g way the Norton is coming inside...

You've been married so long, if you'd have killed her when you first thought about it, you'd be out of jail by now.

I've been married 45 years now, so yes, I've thought about it too.

Although I had already made up my mind that I was in all reality, going to buy my 69S rolling project, my Good Wife Quenie took one look at in it's half assembled state and declaired "well, you always wanted one, It's really pretty. I know you can finish it; go for it" The deal was done, a couple of years later it runs and she (Quenie) is half scared sh!t of it (much prefers the back of the HD FLH "geezer glide") but did go 'round the block on the back. I didn't do more than pull one long 2nd gear and she remarked that it was a whole lot quicker than the Sportster. AH The Good Wife I've got one!
Oh, just got the call, dinner is ready. Corned beast and cabbage and it aint even St Pat's day. Yummy
