I've just fitted a twin output coil to my interstate and as a result I can now get the front tank nuts off in two minutes flat without the single coils getting in the way, however the rear tank strap is still a bit of a p.i.t.a. And is fiddly at best, I'm wondering, has anyone replaced this with a strong elastic band or something similar, I can't see why a heavy duty band from one bolt to the other, passing under the tube wouldn't suffice. Surely some of you norton gurus have addressed this, it would mean tank off in the same time as a TT pits top.

Paul.

So far I"ve run my IS and Roadster tanks w/o any rear fastening down and have crashed a number of times and ways on both these with some hard damaging impacts to both tanks but they held fast so not very critical to ride on while figuring out making strap down a straight forward task.

shouldn't be a problem. My 750 with glass tank has that system

However, the steel tanks can fracture around the front mountings if the tank isn't adequately secured.
