Hi
I ordered up a new tacho drive housing to switch over for the original leaky one but the original is set pretty solid on its old gasket. Any tips for prising the old housing off and should i be looking for the worm drive to lift out with the housing too ? Do i need to be aware of anything falling back into the engine . .
cheers

It should only be the gasket sticking which is preventing the housing from being lifted out. The drive gear should come out along with the housing.

thanks lab - good to know before tapping away

Avoid damaging the tacho drive, don't tap it. First remove the 2 screws and break the seal by wrenching the tacho cable swivel.

Remove the two screws and then tap near one of the holes with a soft aluminum drift. Tap it to rotate the housing within the hole which it resides. This usually releases the bond of the gasket material.
