Superbowl

Watch a game of State Origin Rugby League between Queensland and New South Wales and you will see a hard game of Rugby League (real footy) and they don't wear helmets or big shoulder pads, played on real grass.
We have a 3 game series every year in between club matches, been played since the 80s, none of this stopping and going pansy stuff.
2x 40 minute halves of hard hitting, fast plays, state vs state can't get better.

You must be reading some unique material.
They have these very precise game clocks that count down actual play time, which is 15 minutes per quarter with 4 quarters being played.
A whole lot of money is spent based on these perimeters.
60 mins is the game time. They aren’t playing all the time the clock is running

60 mins is the game time. They aren’t playing all the time the clock is running

Common sense and the physical influences of how the game is played and how the game time is managed dictate play.
As is the case with almost all major/professional sports.
You want all go full time try watching a marathon.

Read the question then the "answers". Tangents are inevitable but it would be nice if questions were answered. Not important here but there are other threads today where the OP question were absolutely ignored and the BS started on post 2. On top of that, this thread was topical when I started it and just a waste of time and disk space now, IMHO.

I never said there was anything offensive! I had an actual question that interested me and hoped to get at least one answer.

But to answer your question, it‘s not a big deal over here at all. It is shown only shown on the specialist sports channels, not mainstream terrestrial TV.

Its only watched by those who think rugby is too rough to watch ;)

True, you answered the only part you would know about having no TV.
I probably turn on my PC four times a day (no iphone here) and it kicks off with my providers news page, which I always scroll through, along with other dedicated news pages.
Whilst it maybe not be what you were asking, I can honestly state that until your post there was no prior mention of it anywhere that I saw, though afterwards a few mentions of the half time entertainment..
But of the game itself...... here on UK news outlets headlines....... zip!!!

I was interested to see if it is catching on since one game is played in London each year (plus one in Mexico and one in German).

I don't care about football. I used to watch the local team so I could interact in the office but since I no longer go to an office, there's none of that. It is a very big deal here and the Superbowl half-time show is always hyped like it will be the biggest show of the year - to me, it stunk as did last year.

were there TWO DIFFERENT National Anthems?
I didn't watch any of it....
