I ran into a guy yesterday at Richmond car and bike show that said his Norton had a stroker kit and big bore to the tune of almost 1100cc. I asked for details but he was fuzzy saying that one of the local Brit chopper shops put it together from special parts ordered from the UK for 5000$. I'm skeptical but if his 8.48 second quarter mile times are for real then he may have a serious motor in a seriously ugly bike. I snapped some photos of the bike with the phone and will try to get them up soon.
Does anyone know what long stroke kit is available?

Stroker motor 1100cc?

Phone pics.
Rear end of frame with swingarm pivot, swingarm, wheel, brakes is Kawa 1100.
This should probably go to the chopper thread.
Can the original barrels be sleeved for 83mm?

He did a good job of hiding the technical genius of the bike. The kick start is a classic.

Yes, It's like the carburetor shaped cover over the fuel injection. Under the classic looks is a Hyabusa.

Yeah, Im going to have to pull out the B.S. card on this one. I remember bracket racing in the 80s and those were 1/8 mile runs. Thats probaby more realistic. .....That is an ugly bike though. I dont understand how you can have a disc brake in the rear but run a drum up front? Oh wait, I see his thought process.....forward highway pegs put more weight on reat wheel, sure now I get it.

but still a 1100cc Norton would be awsome

That's a mid-60s Triumph front end (67 or earlier).

Sure is some mongrel, but sometimes those are the most fun. Certainly no need to worry about scratching the paint!

Okay, so maybe the guy REALLY DOES have an 1100cc Norton; well, it's not the one in the photos, maybe it's in his shed.

The bike is good for a laugh but got me thinking after a few beer,( not like I can afford to right now, but), has anyone on here put the 93mm stroke crank into a stock set of cases? How much work was it? And ditto for the 83mm bore in stock barrel?

The bike meet had one clean orange highrider, a few Triumphs, a 750GT Duc, couple of R75/5 BMW, Indian and Harley or two, couple of Rokons and other freaks, and an AJS single.

Only the 1100 Norton seemed worthy to shoot for entertainment sake.

Upon further review, my Norton can also do a 8.48 second quarter mile.
A flying 1/4 mile, not a standing 1/4 mile That is only a little better than 106 mph average.

We have song in Britain, Jackanory Jackanory.
I was watching a Commando doing a 1/4 mile yesterday. He was in the high 13 secs with terminal speeds of around 100mph.

I haven't done it but I am sure it could be done. Of course then that 8 seconds would be about the life expectancy of the engine.

I have a 91mm stroker in stock cases with 80mm bore for a 916. That was about as far as I figured I could go and expect it to last. Jim
